5 reasons why eloping is the way to go during Corona

Creating bubbles of love and happiness are more important than ever. During difficult times, we can feel our personal connections more powerfully. And right now, we need them the most. Getting married during Corona is still possible and we think, eloping is the way to go!

Getting married during Corona can come with many obstacles. Planning one of the most important days of your life can feel significantly more stressful when you have no clue what the future will hold. Travel restrictions may change frequently and it is very unclear how many people can be in one place at a time. Don’t feel discouraged. You can celebrate your love in the most memorable way possible while staying flexible to react to new restrictions: Eloping is the way to go during Corona!

What is eloping?

In the old days, eloping was a secretive act. Instead of getting married around your friends and family, you and your significant other would “run away” for the ceremony and return as a married couple. Eloping has become a popular practice for modern couples. However, its meaning has changed over the years. Now it simply means that you and your partner forgo an intimate ceremony and travel to a breathtaking destination to do so. Of course, you can be upfront with your friends and family about it. In fact, we recommend you do so.

Why eloping in Europe is your best option

First of all, Europe is beautiful. We have so many breathtaking locations at our doorstep - or at least around the corner. Eloping in Europe has a lot to offer. The change of seasons allows accommodating for each individual taste. You can find a snowy winter wonderland in the mountains, crystal clear water with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and epic mountain ranges that tower over cute villages glued to the side of said mountains.

  • You can reach everything by car or train. The best thing about Europe is that it is so easy to travel. If your flight gets cancelled, you are lucky enough to have multiple other options to get to your destination. While travelling by train is the most eco-friendly option, during Corona times it might be your best bet to plan your trip with a car from the start.

  • A small party will always be okay. We can’t guarantee that a bigger wedding party will be allowed a few months from now. Planning a small, intimate party takes away the worry if your event can go through.

  • You are more flexible. A traditional wedding will require you to plan how many guests you are inviting, when and where your wedding will take place and so on. Choosing a destination wedding instead will allow you to stay more flexible and to adapt to changing restrictions.

  • You can go off-grid. Buzzing busy cities won’t be a great travel destination for a while. Planning a quiet ceremony in a beautiful remote place will allow you to keep yourself and your loved ones safe, no matter how the restrictions change.

  • Share your memories the safe way. Your friends and family would love to celebrate this day with you, still, it’s currently the safest if they don’t. That doesn’t mean they will be excluded from the experience. You will come back with a camera full of beautiful pictures and a heart full of amazing stories to tell!
