If you are unsure if eloping is for you, let us convince you! We think eloping is one of the best ways to get married: You go on an epic adventure with the person you love, create wonderful memories, and you can do it all on your own terms. No third party pressure, no expectations, just the two of you (and maybe a selected group of people that you want to share your experience with).
Are you ready? Here are our top 5 places for your Elopement in Iceland
Jörkulsarlon - probably one of the best views in the world
If snow and ice is your element, this lagune is the perfect spot for you! This is where you can see huge icebergs glimmering in the distance. The word ‘ice blue’ got its name here, that’s for sure, you can spot the glaciers from far away and if you are lucky, you might see a seal dive deep into the cold water!
Mount Kirkjufell on the coast of Snæfellsnes peninsula
Aparently, this is the most photographed mountain in the world and we can absolutely see why. The good thing: You can escape the flocks of tourists easily as there is plenty of space for everyone. Its dramatic formation is an incredible backdrop for elopement pictures and the whole peninsula is full of inviting hiking tracks with views for days.
The arch with a hole: Dyrhólaey
Another incredible view is Dyrhólaey, a small peninsula (but former island) at the south coast of Iceland. It is covered with mossy green vegetation and has a stunning bird population in summer. (Access is limited at certain times, so better check in advance how nesting season affects its opening hours.) It would be perfect for an Elopementceremony!! A friend of ours send us some pictures, because she knows we’re always looking for stunning an beautiful places. Thank you Alina!
A beautiful fjord close to Reykjavik: Hvalfjörður
This is a cute secret spot with incredible scenery and some privacy. Of course, there is the fjord itself that looks stunning but its mountain range backdrop and cute little waterfalls make the place extra special.
Black sand beach Reynisfjara
This place is absolutely magical! At the south coast, just next to the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal, you can find white basalt columns over a black sand beach and an icy blue ocean. Game of Thrones fans have seen this spot in the series but it's mostly world famous for its stunning beauty and dangerous waves. .
This is just a small selection of our favourite places in beautiful Iceland. However, the country has many more to offer. And so have other countries in Europe! If you aren’t settled on a location yet, check out our Instagram and Pinterest for beautiful elopement locations and emotional first looks.
