Eloping in a winter wonderland: The best ideas for your winter elopement
The crunch of snow under your feet. Foggy mornings. Little flakes glistening when the sun breaks through the clouds. Winter elopements are deeply magical. No matter if up in the mountains or deep into the woods, winter has a very special feel to it. And winter is the perfect time to elope! Why? First of all, it’s off-season, many venues have more availability and are cheaper and secondly (and more importantly) it’s incredibly beautiful!
Are you a hopeless romantic who loves crackling fires, long walks in a winter wonderland, thick cozy sweaters, and a hot cup of mulled wine in your hands (think of hot chocolate instead if you like)? Or do you love the thrill of winter sports and can’t hold back as soon as the first snowflakes start to fall? Either way, this article is for you: Do you wanna build a snowman?!
Why eloping in the first place?
If you are curious about eloping but aren’t sure if it’s for you, let us give you a few of the most important reasons why we think eloping is the best way to get married. Many couples don’t like the thought of a stressful big white wedding. It’s a day you mostly organize for other people, possibly full of third-party-pressure, and very little adventure. Instead, eloping allows you to create a full experience for you and your partner that represents you and your unique love. Often, it’s cheaper and creates beautiful memories that the two of you will treasure forever!
This is not about creating absolutes: If you like to include some friends or family members, of course, that’s possible, too. Bring them along and share your big day in an intimate setting. This day is all about you and what you want it to be! Do you have further questions about what eloping is or isn't? Shoot us a message!
When to elope in winter?
The perfect timing depends on the region of your choice. It’s worth checking the weather data from previous years to predict your chance of snow and ideal weather conditions. Additionally, you may want to check the high and low season for winter sports in the area. High season will increase your chance of fluffy, fresh snow but also means more people. However, if you’d like to ski or snowboard yourself, this might be the ideal time. We are happy to advise you on the best time to go and can thoroughly explain the pros and cons of each decision!
